Moore Was born to his parents in Oakland, California. He was the son of the son of Marilyn Wilson, a business strategist, and Sherrod Moore.

In addition, his mother, a math graduate, was a teacher in Bahrain and Denmark. When he was a young child, Moore went with her to Denmark. When he was four, they relocated to Bahrain, where Moore attended a British private school until he was seven.

On the other hand, few details about his father are known, as Moore barely have spoken about him, and many of his Instagram posts feature pictures of his mother.

In one of his Instagram posts, Moore recalled his Denmark memories with his mother, writing, “Momma killed her ice cream cone quick/fast because she didn’t want it to drip on her white shirt!!!! Denmark Memories.”

Both Of Shemar Moore’s Parents Have Passed Away

Sadly, both of the actor’s parents are dead. Besides, the news of his parent’s death was announced by Moore via Instagram post.

Moore shared a photo on January 5, 2020, in which he talked about his father’s death and how he had influenced him. He lost his father in December 2019.

The actor wrote “SHERROD FRANKLIN “FREEDOM” M.O.O.R.E.,” as an homage to his late father on Instagram. The Man who helped me in my life, My Father. R.I.P.; I wish we had made time to get to know each other, but we didn’t. I am grateful for you for giving me this life.”

In contrast, his mother, Marylin Joan Wilson-Moore, passed away in February 2020, a short time after her husband.

He stated, “My Mama always said ‘I was at the front of the line when God was handing out boys’… and I always answered, “Mama, you know I cut the line to get to you!” I love you, mother.

The Actor Was Close To His Mother Than His Father

Although Shemar Moore and his mother are pretty close, he disclosed in a 2016 interview with Larry King that Sherrod Moore, his father, was a terrible spouse and had served time in San Quentin jail.

“On my terms, my father is a part of my life. I stand by my mother. He didn’t treat my mother well. He said my father was unpredictable, and when I was a baby, he spent four years in San Quentin.”

He continued, “I decided to help him because he was in need because he is a part of my life. To keep him safe, I, therefore, got him home. And although I hope the best for him, he must live his own life.”

Family Background: Shemar Has A Biracial Heritage

Moore has a mixed ethnic heritage since his mother, born in Boston, Massachusetts’s Roxbury district, was of Irish and French Canadian ancestry, and his father was an African-American.

Reflecting on his family background, his grandmother was a native of Quebec City, Canada.

In the 1970s, Moore attributes his mother’s decision to relocate abroad with him in part to racial tension, the taboo surrounding interracial partnerships, and prejudice in the United States.

When the family returned to the United States in 1977, they first settled in Chico, California, where his mother served at a clinic, before relocating to Palo Alto.

Furthermore, it is reported that Moore has four siblings: Shenon Moore, Romeo Moore, Sheburra Moore, and Kosheno Moore. Three of his siblings are said to be from his paternal side, per Familytron.
